Summary:Lawyer John W. Daniels, Jr. was born on June 11, 1948, in Milwaukee. Daniels earned his B. A. degree from North Central College in Naperville, Illinois in 1969; his M. S. degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1971; and his J. D. degree from Harvard Law School in 1974. Daniels began his legal career with Quarles & Brady L.L.P, a full-service law firm. In 1981, Daniels became a partner at Quarles & Brady. In 2007, he became the first African American to lead a major Wisconsin law firm when he was named chairman and managing partner of Quarles & Brady, L.L.P. He was also a member of the Greater Milwaukee Foundation Board of Directors, one of the oldest and largest community foundations in the United States. Wisconsin's governor appointed Daniels Bar Examiner of the Wisconsin Board of Professional Competency. Daniels was also a member of Wisconsin's Strategic Planning Council.
