Summary:Educator Ollie M. Taylor was born on September 14, 1937 in Tallahassee, Florida. She is the oldest of four children, Albert, Douglas and Major. She attended Bond Jr. Elementary School and Florida A&M High School in Tallahassee, Florida. In 1957, she married Willie J. Thompson and two years later the couple welcomed their first born, Anthony Taylor. Three years later, the Taylors' welcomed their second child Angela Taylor and then their youngest, Valerie Taylor. In 1964, Taylor worked as a file clerk for Spiegel in Chicago and obtained her A.A. degree from Kennedy King College in Chicago. In 1975, she began her career as an Elementary School teacher for the Chicago Board of Education. She later completed her B.S degree in education from National Louis College in Chicago. After many awards for outstanding work with students and parents, Taylor retired from the Chicago Department of Education after twenty-eight years of service.
