Summary:Corporate executive Alfred "Al" Zollar was born on May 15, 1954 in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from the University of California at San Diego with his M.A. degree in applied mathematics in 1976. Zollar joined IBM Corporation in 1977 as a systems engineer trainee. He then went on to work in several leadership positions at IBM, including product manager for IBM's relational database software DB2, general manager of IBM's Network Computing Software Division, president and CEO of IBM's Lotus Development Corporation, and general manager of IBM iSeries. In 2004, he was appointed general manager of IBM Tivoli Software, retiring in January of 2011. In 2014, after retirement, he became an executive partner with the Siris Capital Group. Zollar was ranked #15 on Fortune magazine's 2002 list of Most Powerful Black Executives, and was named one of the 100 most powerful executives in corporate America by Black Enterprise magazine in 2009.
