Summary: | Lawyer and nonprofit executive Charles Ward was born on September 20, 1946. He received his B.A. degree from California Western University, and his J.D. degree in 1971 from the University of San Diego School of Law. He served as a legislative researcher for the first Congressional Black Caucus, and Chief-of-Staff for Congressman Ronald Dellums in 1971. In 1974, Ward became an attorney for the Federal Communications Commission, and in 1975, joined the San Francisco entertainment law firm of Rohan & Stepanian. He joined Times Mirror Cable, Inc. in 1983, as Vice President of National Marketing & Programming. He later became Director of Marketing and Corporate Sponsorships at the San Francisco Jazz Festival in 1996, which he helped rebrand as SFJAZZ. Ward became Senior Vice President of Institutional Advancement for the Family Service Agency of San Francisco in 2002, then Chief Development Officer for the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in 2005.
