Summary: | Entrepreneur and banker Donald V. Watkins was born on September 8, 1948 in Parsons, Kansas. He received his B.S. degree in 1970 from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois. He received his J.D. degree in 1973 from the University of Alabama School of Law, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and joined the law office of Fred B. Gray, in Montgomery, Alabama. Watkins opened his own law office in Birmingham, Alabama in 1979. He became the youngest person ever elected to the Birmingham City Council in 1979, serving as a member until 1983. He worked for Birmingham city government as special counsel to the Mayor of Birmingham from 1985 to 1999. Watkins co-founded Alamerica Bank, a state-chartered bank headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama in 2000. He co-founded Nabirm Energy Services (Pty) Ltd. in Windhoek, Namibia, a principal shareholder, he serves on the board, 2002. Watkins serves as Chairman and CEO of Masada Resource Group, LLC, a global waste-to-ethanol/diesel fuel development company, with waste-to-energy projects in forty-seven countries across four continents, 2011.
