Summary:Investment banker Barbara Alleyne was born in Long Island, New York. She matriculated at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, where she participated in a finance co-op at First National City Bank, and earned her economics degree in 1970. She then attended Columbia Business School in New York City, where she earned her M.B.A. degree in 1973. Alleyne obtained a position at the Wall Street firm Salomon Brothers, where she oversaw a team marketing money-market securities. Alleyne then served as managing director in global fixed income at Citigroup, where she remained until her retirement in 2001. She then joined the Northeastern University Corporation, where she founded the Black Alumni Association Scholarship, and the scholarship's annual fundraiser in Martha's Vineyard. In 2007, Alleyne was elected to the Northeastern University Corporation's Board of Trustees, and from 2008 to 2009, served on its students affairs and alumni relations committee.
