Summary:Claude Monet did not only love his work... he also loved and admired others' works. This is the vision that the Musée Marmottan wants to display thanks to an exhibition dedicated to the artist. From September 14, 2017 to January 14, 2018, come and discover Monet Collectionneur (Monet art collector). "Are you surprised that at my place you can only see my paintings and Japanese engravings? And yet, I also have my collection. [...] But I'm selfish. My collection is for me... and for a few other friends. [...] Come and see it". This quote sounds like an invitation and we owe it to Claude Monet who indeed had a private collection he showed to a few lucky friends. Therefore, the exhibition idea is to recreate this collection that has been partly dispersed after the painter's death. The exhibition of these paintings also shows how careful Claude Monet was when choosing the works he owned whether they were purchased or given as gifts from his friends. Among Monet's favorite artists and theirs works presented for the event: Renoir, Cézanne, Boudin, Delacroix, Toulouse-Lautrec, Manet, Pissarro, Morisot and even Jongkind to name a few. Exceptionally, Paul Cézanne's Nègre Scorpion has been lent which is one of the most precious works from his private collection. A long-term thorough work thought up by the exhibition two curators, Marianne Mathieu and Dominique Lobstein. Thanks to the exhibition, it will also be the occasion to see Monet's work and the story of all the works he bought with new eyes so that you can understand him better. In total, hundreds of works from all over the world (United States, South America, Japan...) are then exhibited. Spending the afternoon in this museum sounds very promising.--Resume by sortiraparis, https://www.sortiraparis.com/arts-culture/exposure/articles/146243-monet-collectionneur-the-exhibition-at-the-musee-marmottan/lang/en
