Trial for breach of promise of marriage, Miss Eleanor Palmer against Benjamin Barnard, Esq. at Guildhall, before Lord Kenyon and a special jury of merchants, on Wednesday, the 19th of December, 1792 : the damages were laid at twenty thousand pounds, and the jury gave a verdict for one thousand : the trial contains verbatim the speeches of counsel, and all the evidence that was produced in support of the action.
