| Summary: | A collection of biographical sketches of people in the Czech Republic whom Miloš Doležal has met and known, including artists, writers, composers, intellectuals, priests, war veterans and victims of political repression under Communist rule, as well as common folk and friends from the Vysočina region. Most of these vignettes were written at the death of the person discussed and so take the form of obituary notices; others were written on the occasion of significant birthdate. The book also includes interviews that Doležal has carried out with French and Polish artists, composers, and writers during his travels.
