There are undoubted values of the Itaipu hydroelectric plant compared to other forms of energy production, there are also serious blood stains, discrimination of expulsion, violence and death. Thirty-six indigenous communities of the ava guaraní or guaraní ethnic groups of Paraná have disappeared from their ancestral territories occupied for millennia.
