Summary:Richard von Kaufmann discovered in March 1892 a Roman family grave in the area Fayum (Egypt), in which eight mummies were together with a few grave goods. One of these is the well-known mummy portrait of a woman named Aline. On the basis of new CT examinations of children's mummies current research results are presented. The mummies of this wealthy family are not considered singular, but integrated into their historical and regional context. The volume is supplemented by numerous new photographic recordings.
