Those instruments were regulated as a result of the passage of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (Dodd-Frank) in 2010. That legislation granted the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) broad and shared regulatory authority over swaps."
