Summary:	After becoming exceedingly wealthy by running the legendary Griechenbeisl restaurant in Vienna, Franz Hauer began acquiring art and soon turned to the latest artistic currents of his day. He owned important groups of works by Albin Egger-Lienz, Egon Schiele, and Oskar Kokoschka. He passed away in 1914 at the age of 48, and in the years after his death, almost the entire collection was sold.
