Summary:The official catalog of the exhibition Ríos y silenciosœ by Juan Manuel Echavarría. Includes images and texts about the exhibition. During more than 20 years of work Juan Manuel Echavarría has traveled along with his work team the unknown Colombia of the conflict. In these expeditions he has not only been able to approach the rugged, magical, stigmatized and damaged by war geography but has also known the people who inhabit it, their life stories and how the confrontation has had an important influence on their development as individuals and communities He has achieved with his approaches, openings, dialogues and ties that do not fade over the years and blur the boundaries between victims and perpetrators. That unknown geography has been discovered through the action of walking, walking on roads that are not recognized on maps, following rivers and streams. That Colombia River of which little is spoken about and that not only connects distant villages, but has also witnessed death, ignorance of the human and mobile cemetery of war. Ríos y Silencios, is configured as a multimedia exhibition that takes the viewer along those roads and tributaries to learn about the stories of those who have lived closely with the conflict, to see the horror present in violent events through the shield of art so as not to petrify us.
