Summary:The Skulpturenpark Köln is an open-air museum for contemporary outdoor sculpture. With the anniversary exhibition KölnSkulptur #9, titled 'La Fin de Babylone. Mich wundert, dass ich so fröhlich bin!' and curated by Professor Chus Martínez, the Skulpturenpark Köln celebrates its twentieth anniversary. The title relates to the dream of a new beginning for culture, and therefore for society. Do you remember the "Tales of A Thousand and One Nights"? It would not be accurate to say that the commissioned works for the 9th edition of the exhibition series KölnSkulptur are like those tales, but the park is the perfect grounds to be inhabited by the forces of ?ction. Like the character Scheherazade, who tells a story every night to the Sultan, Skulpturenpark Köln is a continuous voice that recalls the possibilities we still have to survive, and it does so with art. At the centre of KölnSkulptur #9 are eight new commissioned works by the following artists: Andrea Büttner, Claudia Comte, Jan Kiefer, Eduardo Navarro, Solange Pessoa, Lin May Saeed, Teresa Solar and Pedro Wirz.
