Summary:January 15, 1838 Opinion of the Justices of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court regarding a Senate inquiry into the legislature's ability to admit evidence on votes for governor, and whether, and under what circumstances, to allow parole evidence to be used in this process, except when fraud is suspected. After consideration, the Court decided that the legislature is not competent to admit evidence that votes are not what they purport to be, nor use parole evidence in this process.
