Summary:Aruba's economy has been in recession since mid-2015, mainly due to a temporary slowdown in tourism activity and fiscal consolidation. Short-term recovery in economic activity depends on timely implementation of refinery-related investments. Despite fiscal efforts by the authorities, public debt remains at around 85 percent of GDP, limiting fiscal space.
