Summary:1838 Report of the Joint Standing Committee regarding the return by the Surveyor General of the survey of the Aroostook Road from the Aroostook to the St. John's River, near the mouth of the Madawaska River. Following the report, various resolves were proposed regarding the Land Agent opening and directing a road from Military Road to eventually near the point of the Madawaska River, providing Massachusetts provided its fair share. The second resolve dealt with provisions for settlements for both states on either side of the river.
