Summary:(Producer) These [discs] demonstrate a user-friendly behaviorally-explicit method for patient-centered interviewing and provider-patient relationships. The interviewing method in the tapes has been studied in a randomized controlled trial. Meant for teaching interviewing to students and residents, and for faculty development, the tapes can be used for self-learning. Following the format of the author's textbook, all components of the interview are covered. The patient centered interview covers steps 1 through 5 and proceeds from HPI (History of Present Illness), HI (Health Issues, including medications, exercise habits, etc.), PMH (Past Medical History), SH (Social History) to ROS (Review of Systems). Steps 6 through 12 are covered in the doctor-centered interview. Together the two result in a synthesis and complete biopsychosocial picture of any disease.
