Notes: | Followed by two additional proclamations given by William Howe at Boston on October 28, and an Association proposed by the loyal citizens. "It may have been issued in New York."--Ford. However, relief cut of royal arms (Reilly 920) is identified as being used only by Ebenezer Watson of Hartford at this time. Summary: | October 28, 1775 proclamations by Major-General William Howe forbidding exit or entry into Boston, or carrying more than five pounds upon departure, without his order or permission, except for the British Navy, as well as establishing an association of citizens to preserve order. A response from Loyalists agreed to his orders.
