Summary:An early Brenton play, written in 1969 for the Brighton Combination, 'Gum and Goo' was the central part of a triple bill (with 'Heads' and 'The Education of Skinny Spew') It features two boys transformed into fantasy gremlins by an autistic girl. The girl is pushed into a hole and is found 'not dead - worse, she's silent'. Written to be performed with no set, the play requires bold physicalisation as there is nothing but the actors' bodies to tell the audience who the characters are.
