New ser., v. 1, no. 1 (Jan. 15, 1833)-v. 1, no. 26 (July 9, 1833) corresponds to the original series, v. 1, no. 14 (Jan. 15, 1833)-v. 2, no. 13 (July 9, 1833): new ser., v. 2, no. 1 (July 16, 1833)-v. 2, no. 26 (Jan. 7, 1834) to v. 2, no. 14 (July 16, 1833)-v. 2, no. 39 (Jan. 7, 1834).
The printed wrappers contain "The Journal of belles lettres, embracing three to four pages of addition new matter, will be given every week as an accompaniment ..." This was also issued separately "on fine white paper ... to non-subscribers to the 'Library,' at two dollars per annum if paid in advance, or three dollars at the end of the year." The Journal of belles lettres was also issued with the original and the octavo editions.
A notice in v. 1, no. 16, states that "the first thirteen numbers are entirely exhausted, but a new series, no. 1, was commenced with the Sarrans' Memoirs (Jan. 15, 1833)". The contents and typesetting are identical with the numbers of the same dates of the original series. The only differentiation is the designation "new series" on the covers and the numbering of the issues. (New ser., v. 1, no. 1 (Jan. 15, 1833)-v. 1, no. 26 (July 9, 1833) corresponds to the original series, v. 1, no. 14 (Jan. 15, 1833)-v. 2, no. 13 (July 9, 1833): new ser., v. 2, no. 1 (July 16, 1833)-v. 2, no. 26 (Jan. 7, 1834) to v. 2, no. 14 (July 16, 1833)-v. 2, no. 39 (Jan. 7, 1834)). Issued also in annual compilations; also issued in a smaller (ocatvo) format with title: Waldie's octavo library.
"The Port folio, and companion to the select circulating library" was issued as a separate publication.
