Summary:"One chromolithographed plate features the illustrations "Sailing in tubs," "Giving baby the air," "Patty on the fence," and "Trumpeter." Painting instructions, inside upper cover. Title and imprint statement transcribed from chromolithographed upper cover. Variant issues: this issue has the caption title, The little folks' painting book. Other issues have caption title identical to the title proper. A lithograph of a girl wearing a summer dress with a broad sash and holding a hoop, stick, sand pail, and shovel appears on lower cover. This pictorial lithograph design is characteristic of McLoughlin titles issued between 1886 and 1910. A similarly designed issue in the Cinderella series is also dated ca. 1886."
