The description of this doll series matches those given in the McLoughlin Catalogue of toy books ... (New York, [1875]). "Aunt Louisa's big picture series. 42 kinds.--25 cents each."-- p. [4] of wrapper. The McLoughlin catalogue for 1875 lists 50 titles. Advertisement also includes a description of the card game Chiromagica. Relief print illustration, first leaf, is signed by engraver Edward P. Cogger. Plates printed in color by a relief process (zinc etching?)."
