The paper dolls are arranged in four numbered series. The catalogue, List of Toy books manufactured ... by McLoughlin Bros. (New York, 1867) contains listings for these four series, but series one and two are comprised of two subseries; the second subseries of series one and two are not listed in the publisher's advertisement in the issue in hand. Wrapper and textual illustrations printed in colored ink. Illustrations resemble the work of Justin H. Howard. Illustration, p. [4], is signed by engraver Edward P. Cogger, who engraved many illustrations by Justin H. Howard."
