Catalogue of toy books, ... for 1875-'76 lists 50 titles in the Big picture series; and the description for Ancient nursery rhymes mentions a bigger 8vo format, so issue in hand probably pre-dates 1875. Wrapper design printed in red, green, and black ink. Illustrations printed in color by a relief process (zinc etching?).
