Summary:	"Cover title. Series statement at head of title. "228"--inventory number, foot of cover. This inventory number is not found in the Confidential price-list and telegraph code (New York: McLoughlin Bros., 1894). The McLoughlin Bros. catalogue of books (1914) lists Mother Goose melodies under inventory number 228. Costume of children in the Illustrations and typography suggest that this edition was probably issued between 1900 and 1913. "Books and games, educate--amuse, McLoughlin est. 1828"--device of McLoughin Bros., front cover, motto appears in a framed circle featuring image of two owls, one reading, one playing checkers. Cover included in pagination. Cover and illustrations chromolithographed."
