Summary:"English-language version of the German folk-tale, "Hans im Glück," collected by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm. In verse. Wrapper bears variant copyright date of 1865. Issued with five other titles (variously bearing copyright dates of 1864 and 1865), in an 8 x 12 x 6 cm. stiff-paper box. Cover top bears series title and design of a Christmas stocking and holly chromolithographed in red, green, and gold ink on a silver background, bordered by a blue frame with gold stars. Sides of box mottled. Text and illustrations chromolithographed. One leaf folded accordion-style to make twelve pages. Leaf consists of two sections pasted together; one folded into eight segments; the other folded into four segments. In glazed paper printed wrapper; wrapper printed in red ink. "Christmas stocking library"--series title, box top. Numbered list, inside box top. Publisher's advertisement, p. [4] of wrapper."
