Notes:"This revised translation is based on the routinely updated consolidated text provided as a publication of the Official Gazette, El Peruano, under the rubric of "Normas Legales Actualizadas". The Edición Oficial of March 2019 of the Congress of the Republic, and the Décima Cuarta Edición Oficial, of March 2019 of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, were also consulted. The translators benefitted from reference to the official translation of August 2006 of the Office of Translations of the Library of the Congress of the Republic as previously published in World Constitutions Illustrated. There is one seeming inconsistency in the Spanish texts, concerning the amendments made by Law No. 30904, adopted on 4 October 2018, ratified at the Referendum of 9 December 2018, promulgated on 9 January 2019, and published in the Official Gazette, El Peruano, Year XXXVI, No. 14789, Legal Norms, of 10 January 2019. The amendment replaced the National Council of the Magistrature with the National Junta of Justice. Arts. 154, 155 and 156 were amended in their entirety, and are so represented in all subsequent consolidations of the text. The amending law also provided, in a Final Complementary Provision, for the denomination of this organ to be consequentially changed throughout the national juridical order. However, the Spanish consolidated texts of the Constitution, to varying degrees, have retained the original name. This affects Arts. 39, 91, 99, 142, the title heading of Chapter IX, and Arts. 150, 154, 155, 156, 157, 182 and 183. In the translation here, the change has been made throughout with appropriate annotation concerning the amending law. In the various Spanish consolidated texts, title headers for every Article may, or may not, be included. In early editions of the Constitution, these could also appear as marginal inscriptions. The principal source text used for the translation here employed only three of these, at Arts. 19, 149 and 154. They have not been retained in the translation. The translation of the three most recent amendments is based on the official Spanish texts of: Laws Nos. 31340 and 31350, adopted on 19 July 2021 and promulgated on 22 July 2021, as published in the Official Gazette, El Peruano, Year XXXVIII, No. 16133, Legal Norms, of 23 July 2021: https://diarioficial.elperuano.pe [consulted July 2021], and Law No. 31414, adopted on 4 February 2022 and promulgated on 11 February 2022, as published in the Official Gazette, El Peruano, Year XXXIX, No. 16470, Legal Norms, of 12 February 2022: https://diarioficial.elperuano.pe [consulted February 2022]. Laws Nos. 31304 and 31305 amend Art. 21 and Art. 2 [subsection 5], and Law No. 31414 amends Art. 21, of the Constitution of 1993."--Title page verso.
