Summary:On June 19, 1938, the butcher's assistant Bernhard Strauss was taken into preventive custody in Bad Ems and taken via Frankfurt to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp near Berlin on the grounds of "work shyness". He was only released again seven years later and after he had survived Groß-Rosen, Auschwitz, Mittelbau-Dora and Bergen-Belsen, Strauss returned to his home town of Bad Ems. But even after 1945, the past kept catching up with him. People who once called the shots were once again at the helm of power. Former followers very often justified themselves with the sentence 'We didn't know that' --Publisher. .
