In 1955, the Bible Presbyterian Church split into the Bible Presbyterian Church, Columbus Synod and the Bible Presbyterian Church, Collingswood Synod, both of which continued to use the original name. The General Synod of one group met primarily in Columbus, Ohio; it changed its name in 1961 to the Evangelical Presbyterian Church through 1965 when it merged with the Reformed Presbyterian Church in North America, General Synod to form the Reformed Presbyterian Church, Evangelical Synod. The other group, led by Carl McIntire, met primarily in Collingswood and Cape May, N.J.
