Summary: | Tischendorf's first edition of the Greek Testament, having published in 1840 a portion of the prolegomena. Where he deserts the Textus Receptus in his recension, he generally follows Griesbach or Lachmann. In the remaining cases (145 our of Reuss' 1000 test-passages) he agrees with some other editor, or introduces new readings, of which Reuss enumerates 35. The main value of Tischendorf's editions lies less in hsi recension than in the wealth of variant readies. Cf. D. & M. 4832.
