Notes:Presbytery of New York; also known as First Presbytery of New York or New York Presbytery; erected by the Synod of New York and Philadelphia (1758-1788) in 1775; became one of the Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A.'s original presbyteries in 1789; a Second Presbytery of New York was set apart in 1831 and a Third in 1831; the First Presbytery remained Old School during the schism, 1838-1969; received by merger portions of the Second Presbytery of New York (Old School) and of the Third and Fourth presbyteries of New York (both of the New School) during the 1870 reorganization; continued by the United Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A. in 1958 and by the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in 1983.
