Notes:	The Synod of Texas included the Presbytery of New Orleans covering all of Louisiana: Presbytery of New Orleans, also known as New Orleans Presbytery; erected by the Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A. in Louisiana in 1936 and continued briefly after 1958 under the United Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A.; dissolved 1959. Presbyteries rearranged in the Synod of Texas to create the Presbytery of the Gulf Coast: Presbytery of Gulf Coast; also known as Presbytery of the Gulf Coast or Gulf Coast Presbytery; erected in Texas in 1960 by the United Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A.; merged with Presbytery of Brazos, Presbyterian Church in the U.S. in 1980 to form the Presbytery of New Covenant (Union). Synod of Texas, also known as Texas Synod; organized 1878 by the Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A.; continued by United Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A. after 1958; merged with the Synod of Oklahoma-Arkansas to form the Synod of the Sun.
