Summary:This book brings together images of approximately 250 pre-Hispanic objects preserved by 30 institutions and some private collectors, and of 15 archaeological sites, from 500 B.C. to the middle of the 14th century A.D. for the Northwest region, and earlier and later for the Pampa and Patagonia. The first part is texts by renowned specialists, highly illustrated. A second part is full-page color photos, with explanatory legends. Many of the objects are published here for the first time. It also has maps of archaeological sites and paintings of the main pre-Hispanic cultures of Argentina. The edition was in charge of the collector Matteo Goretti, who in 2019 donated more than 1500 pre-Columbian pieces to the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes. "The photographic section that closes this edition incorporates numerous pieces from the archaeological cultures of the Northwest from the collection of the Museo de Bellas Artes -which came from the collections that belonged to Guido Di Tella and Matteo Goretti- and also from the collection of the Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores y Culto (the former collection of Francisco Hirsch)."
