Summary:The publication is part of the "Modern Acts", an artistic commissioning program, and one of the fruits of the partnership between Pinacoteca de São Paulo and the Coleção Ivani e Jorge Yunes (CIJY), of São Paulo. This partnership, in place since 2021, has aimed at fostering research an artistic exchange between both institutions in the year that marks the centennial of the 1922 Modern Art Week and the bicentennial of Brazil's independence. The exhibition presented a set of five works, which discuss aspects of modernity in contemporary production and thought. It is configured as an example of new practices for contemporary collecting. The selection of artists was made by the curator Horrana de Kássia Santoz and includes the participation of artist and psychologist Castiel Vitorino Brasileiro (Vitória, Espírito Santo1996. Lives and works between Rio de Janeiro, Espírito Santo and São Paulo) who presented her work "Prosperidade são lembranças e escolhas" (2022); visual artist and pedagogue Mitsy Queiroz (Recife, Pernambuco1988) who presented her work "As ilhas alagadas do Pina" (2022); Luciara Ribeiro (Bahia 1989. Lives and works in São Paulo) with the video-documentary "Narrativas e Territórios em disputa: Investigações sobre os sistemas das artes" (2022); journalist, documentary filmmaker, audiovisual producer and filmmaker Olinda Wanderley Tupinambá (Bahia 1989) which brings in her new film Ibirapema (2022) and visual artist Charlene Sales Bicalho (Nova Era, Minas Gerais 1982. Lives and works in São Paulo) with her work "Orbitando a [im]permanência do sol, e a constância das águas" (2021-2022). Simultaneously, the project supports the production of emerging artists, collaborates with the activity of curators of different specialties and enables critical re-readings of the collection and its segments, expanding the possibilities of research and exhibition of works in a practical way.
