Summary:A historical survey of Syriac Christian literature and sciences, originally written in Arabic in 1943 by H.H. Ignatius Aprem I Barsaum (Patriarch of Antioch and All of the East, 1932-1957), as "Luʼluʼ al-manthūr fī tārīkh al-ʻulūm wa-al-ādāb al-Suryānīyah". It was unique because it included information from manuscripts examined by Barsaum prior to World War I, which have since perished. The work was first translated into Syriac in 1967 by Mor Pheloxenos Yuhanon Dolabani, and into English first in 2000 by Dr. Moosa Matti, as "The scattered pearls: a history of Syriac literature and sciences". This is the first Malayalam translation, translated from the Syriac and English translations by Dr. Jacob Varghese Mannakuzhiyil and edited by Dr. Kuriakose Corepiscopa Moolayil. The Arabic editions (publications I-V) were published in Homs in 1943, Alleppo in 1956, Baghdad in 1976, Damascus in 1987, and Holland in 1987. The Syriac editions (publications VI-VII) were published in Qameshly in 1967 and Holland in 1991. The English editions (publications VIII-IX) were published in NJ, USA in 2000 and 2004. This is the first Malayalam edition (publication X), published in Kerala in 2009.
