Summary:Artist Ana Teresa Barboza (Lima, 1981) expresses her art through the techniques of embroidery, tapestry and basketry in different formats, both in large installations and in small tapestries and intervened photographs. She works with cotton threads, wool, stones and reeds; its colors, materials and shapes refer to the ancient textiles of Peru which, rethought in a contemporary key, narrate the close relationship between local communities and their natural environment. The exhibition brings together fourteen works from Barboza's recent production, which condense several recurring elements in her work. The book-catalogue reproduces the works exhibited, along with a selection of photographs from previous series and graphic materials. It includes a curatorial essay by Verónica Rossi and an interview by Peruvian researcher and curator Florencia Portocarrero with the artist, which explores the relationships between her work and the context of the contemporary Peruvian scene. The publication is completed with a glossary of fundamental terms of textile art, conceived and illustrated by the artist Guillermina Baiguera.
