Summary:Communication dated January 4th, 1869, from D.A. Jenkins, Public Treasurer, to the General Assembly of North Carolina. In the Communication, Jenkins addresses four charges against him. The charges are related to the payment of per diem and mileage to members of the Assembly, the delivery of Penitentiary Bonds, acceptance of mortgages from Williamston and Tarboro' Rail Road Company and Chatham Rail Road Company, and the premature acceptance of a mortgage from Chatham Rail Road Company. The report concludes, "I beg leave to say that I ask for the fullest investigation of my official conduct, knowing that not the slightest truthful accusation can be made against my integrity. Any assertions or insinuations to the contrary are wholly without foundation, and will be so demonstrated before any candid tribunal." (Page 9)
