Summary:Influenced by textile patterns and typography, along with images of Greco-Roman sculpture and Art Deco design, Ruby Sky Stiler creates layered works that evoke art historical references in decidedly new ways. Using materials such as paint, acrylic resin, paper, and glue, Stiler shows us how subjects such as the reclining nude and the mother and child that we see so often can be reimagined through contemporary practices. Ruby Sky Stiler—New Patterns celebrates the exhibition of the same name at the Tang Teaching Museum, and features writings by Jennifer Higgie and Mellissa Huber, as well as a dialogue between Stiler and Tang Museum Dayton Director Ian Berry.
