Summary:Britain and her allies made meticulous preparations for the invasion of northwestern France to begin the liberation of Nazi occupied Europe. Few of the Allied troops who later stormed ashore could have known how huge the backup operations had been. Double agents, deception, strange weapons had been brought together. All with one goal, to get Allied forces on to the Normandy beaches with as few causalities as possible, and keep them there despite the inevitable carnage and chaos.
