Summary:Spanning a critical historical time from 1929 to 1940, three young women search for love in this high-spirited adaptation of Nancy Mitford's novel. For Fanny it's a simple matter of marrying a decent man, and from her safe domestic haven, she watches as Linda chases love throughout Europe, while the beautiful but icy Polly contracts a marriage that shocks society and breaks her mother's heart. At a time when turmoil sweeps across Europe, the young women leave behind their careless and innocent youth as they pursue love and happiness through places far beyond their expectations. Fanny Logan tells the stories of her two friends, Linda Radlett and Polly Hampton and their various pursuits of love. Linda falls in love with banker, Tony Kroesig, and defies all parental wrath and advice to marry him. Meanwhile Polly, daughter of Lord and Lady Montdore, is home from India but has no intentions of marrying the men presented to her. Linda leaves her husband for communist, Christian Talbot. Her bother Matt runs off to fight in Spain. Fanny makes a good steady marriage with Alfred Wincham while Polly announces her intention to marry her newly widowed uncle, Boy Dugdale.
