| Summary: | The Holroyds scream their lives away until Lizzie falls in love with another man and wishes her boorish husband dead - a wish that comes horribly true. The story is a slice of vivid Lawrentian life where women are put upon by their husbands who stagger home drunk, lay about them with their fists and occasionally bring the odd trollop into the house.
