The Greek text of Codex Holsteinianus is Simeo Sethus's free translation, ca. 1100 A.D., of Ibn al-Muqaffaʻ's Arabic translation (with additions) of Burzōe's Pahlavi translation (with additions) of an Indian original, composed in Sanskrit by an unknown Vishnuite Brahman probably about 300 A.D. in Kashmīr. See Encyclopaedia of Islam, New edition, volume 4, pages 503-506.
