Notes: | "Tiré a petit nombre", from manuscript Cotton, Vespasian B. x in the British museum. Written about 1121 for Adeliza, queen of Henry I, of England, by a monk calling himself Benedeiz (Benoît) (compare pages1, and G. Paris, "Lit. franç. au moyen âge", 1914, p. 236) According to Plummer, based on the Latin prose version found in Bodleian ms. e Musaeo 3. (cf. Plummer, "Vitae sanctorum Hiberniae", 1910, v. 1, p. xlii; also his "Berthada náem nÉrenn", 1922, v. 1, p. xxii) According to E. Pfitzner, "Das anglonormannische gedicht von Brendan", 1910, the Latin is based on the poem.
