Summary: | Methvin surveys the major historical events of western Oklahoma from the 1850s through the early 20th century. He includes much descriptive information on the Wichita Agency and the Commanche-Kiowa Reservation, as well as military-Indian confrontations. He provides information not found in other books from his personal experiences as a missionary. Especially useful are his biographical profiles of some of the major Indian and white personalities (from Tate 3443; Indians of Texas : an annotated bibliography / Michael L. Tate, 1986).
