Notes: | A translation of État général de l'Empire otoman depuis sa foundation jusqu'a present, which may itself have been a translation. The author of the first edition in French (1695) describes himself as "un solitaire turc", while de La Croix claims to be the translator. However, the pseudonym has never been identified, nor have there been any previous editions. Sometimes mistakenly attributed to Franc̦ois Petis de la Croix. Cf. Barbier, A.A. Ouvrages anonymes; BN, v. 85, col. 308; Cioranescu, A. 17. s. 37980; NUC pre-1956, v. 310, p. 608, v. 453, p. 124; Dict. des lett. fr. 17. s.
