Summary:Between 1932 and 1938 the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago went to the Amuq valley to find a site with monumental architecture of the late Hittite kingdom, Hattina, dating to the first millennium B.C., as well as to provide a thorough reconnaissance of settlement in the valley. In 1995 the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago returned to the Amuq valley in the Hatay province, Turkey, after a hiatus of 57 years. This website gives information on these projects.
