"The illustrations are in heliogravure by the house of Fillon & Heuse (now I. Heuse) of Paris" "This book is engraved for for the Honourable Mrs. Burrell. One hundred copies only are printed on specially manufactured paper with watermark facsimile of Richard Wagner's auto-graph signature. No. 69. Mary Burrell." The death of the compiler prevented the completion of this work. "From her manuscript her husband & daughter have now had this first volume brought out according to her wishes & instructions, as a worthy foundation for the monument she had hoped to erect to the genius of Richard Wagner." cf. p.CXXIX.
