Summary:Robert Ormond Butler, 1832-1874, son of Judge Thomas Butler, 1785-1847, of West Feliciana Parish, La., was educated at Yale College in New Haven, Conn., and practiced medicine in New Orleans and in LaFourche Parish, La. He planted sugar and produced molasses at Bayou Black Plantation in Terrebonne Parish, La. This collection consists of correspondence, financial papers, legal documents, printed items and photographs, 1848-1888, of Robert Ormond Butler. The papers document his personal and professional life as a Louisiana planter and physician.
